B&O BeoVision Eclipse
Danish high-end AV equipment manufacturer Bang & Olufsen (B&O) has taken the wraps off its first OLED TV at the IFA 2017 consumer electronics trade show that’s taking place in Berlin this week.Take one part LG OLED TV, mix in a healthy dollop of Bang & Olufsen design and this is the result: the BeoVision Eclipse. This is the result of a collaboration between LG and B&O and it's a staggering result.
When it comes to TVs, looking good is obviously important and whether you choose the 55 or 65-inch model, you’ll be getting a 4K LG OLED screen with HDR support for Dolby Vision.
There are two mounting options, the floor stand and the wall mount, with the remote letting you shift the angle of the TV, if you've open for motorisation. The idea is that you can have the TV flat against the wall, out of the way and move it into optimal viewing position when you want to watch it.
LG's OLED TV's are already finished to a high standard, but this remixed TV jacks up the quality as only B&O can. The best thing about the Eclipse is that you're not only getting high-end design, but you're also getting one of the best TV experiences around.
That soundbar is where B&O leverages its sound experience, packing six speakers each with an amplifier. The speakers are weighted toward the centre of the soundback to ensure that speech is boosted, but with full range drivers to the left and right, that should ensure that the sound stage is wide enough for immersive audio.
You can also use the TV as the central component in a full multiroom audio system. It can play different music in different rooms from a range of sources too – including AirPlay, Chromecast, Bluetooth and internet streaming platforms.
It's also multiroom compatible and fully ready for whatever wireless format you'd like to use, supporting not only Bluetooth, but also Chromecast, Apple AirPlay, DLNA and QPlay for China.
Conclusion
As for B&O’s contribution, it will come as no surprise to fans of the brand’s recent TVs to learn that the set can be mounted on a motorized floor stand, enabling it to glide across the floor towards you at the press of a button on the remote. The set can also be rotated to face different viewing points or mounted on motorized or manual wall brackets. You can even customize the way it looks via either aluminum or colored fabric speaker fronts.

B&O BeoVision Design
B&O takes LG's OLED panel (in 55- or 65-inch sizes) and wraps it in a bold aluminium soundbar, with a bottom panel finished in glossy black to underline the striking lines of this TV. That bottom panel is designed to perfectly match the screen when it's turned off, as this sound bar is designed to work with the TV as much as it's designed to work when the TV is off.
For starters, no other OLED TV looks like the BeoVision Eclipse. The glass-fronted, black-framed screen sits on a built-in soundbar so large it protrudes a good few inches beyond the screen above. So big is this soundbar that it almost makes you think B&O originally intended it go with a 77-inch OLED screen before getting cold feet and opting for more manageable screen sizes.
